Here's the response I got from K&N after asking why they marketed air filters for many 2002 model bikes, but still had no product for the Savage:
I havent seen the filter that we are developing at this time for this bike. Sometimes if we are having problems making the filter, the filter doesnt flow enough or flows too much, it can push the time frame back for releasing the filter. If the filter is relatively easy to make and R&D does not run into problems making the filter it will get released first even though the previous filter was being worked on first.
